About Us
St Ignatius Elias Syrian Orthodox Church, Belfast is the first parish church of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in Northern Ireland. This parish was formed in 2005.
This is one of the parishes of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in U.K.(MSOC-UK). This parish is under the patronage of His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II (Prince Patriarch of Antioch & Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church) and His Grace Dr. Mathews Mor Anthimos (Patriarchal Vicar & Metropolitan of U.K.).
Rev Fr Abin Mathew is the vicar/president of this parish. We worship at St. Polycarp's Church Hall, Finaghy, Belfast. The Holy Qurbana is celeberated on every Saturday at 9.30AM.
We conduct Sunday School class in Malayalam for our children after the Holy Qurbana.
This will help our children to learn our prayers, traditions and Malayalam language especially when we live in a different culture. The MarthaMariam Vanitha Samajam meets regularly after the Holy Qurbana.
